Desmarquet, Michel
Michel Desmarquet was an French-Australian contactee who claimed to have been taken to a planet in the Pleiades in 1987.
Background
Michel Desmarquet was born in Normandy, France in 1931. After finishing high school, he joined the French army and spent eight years in French Equatorial Africa. Following his military service, he worked in various roles — from plantation management and gardening in Africa to sales jobs in France. In 1972, he moved to Cairns, Australia, where he built the house and property on which his alleged contact with extraterrestrials later took place.
The Claimed Contact
Desmarquet claims to have been taken, with his consent, to a planet called Thiaoouba for 9 days in 1987. According to the account, he was transported by a super-intelligent race of hermaphroditic giants.
His Book: Thiaoouba Prophecy
Desmarquet documented his alleged experience in a book. The book provides a large amount of scientific content and attempts to offer a cohesive analysis of the universe's function from a metaphysical perspective, with reducing pollution and a warning about climate change as central themes. The core message he said the extraterrestrials wanted him to spread was that material technology, without spiritual knowledge, is leading humanity toward inevitable global catastrophe, and that technology should only assist in spiritual development.
The book was reprinted in China and Taiwan and became a bestseller in a country where little gets published on the UFO subject.
Later Life and Death
Michel passed away on July 9, 2018, in Vietnam. Before his death, after spending 29 years in Australia and traveling across five continents, he had moved to Asia to live quietly near the sea, hoping to receive a telepathic message from "Thao" — the being he claimed had contacted him.
He reportedly had one final piece of information he had not included in his book, which he said he had received telepathic permission to share. A researcher named Samuel Chong, who translated and promoted the book, was working on a follow-up book based on a personal visit with Desmarquet to present that remaining information.
Desmarquet occupies a niche but enduring place in UFO and contactee literature, particularly due to the spiritual and ecological themes of his account, which set it apart from more typical abduction narratives.
